As musicians, we understand the process of finding the perfect instrument. We believe that visiting a violin dealer should be a relaxed affair. We are a friendly family business and we don’t push for custom: if the instrument is perfect for you then you won’t need any further persuasion.

Tim is a former professional violinist who understands what musicians need. His playing background allows him to write instrument descriptions which offer a clear picture of the instrument before trying it yourself: we are very proud that our customers always comment on how accurate these turn out to be.

Helen is also a musician and really enjoys the opportunity to get to know people and guide them through the journey of finding their perfect instrument or bow.

Across all the price brackets, our policy is to seek out instruments which offer the best sound available. We achieve this by stocking a wider range of instruments than many shops, looking to less-well known makers and schools where the prices have yet to rise.

We also offer a range of contemporary instruments because we believe that a well-chosen new instrument can outplay almost everything older in its price bracket. To provide peace of mind, our top instruments come with independent certification from the leading authority on the maker or school. A number of our instruments are also offered with dendrochronology reports from world-renowned expert Peter Ratcliff.

We also offer exhaustive condition reports which will always give an honest account of the instrument and we are happy for you to have the condition independently verified.
