About Christian Müller
Christian Müller is a violin maker based near Oban on the West Coast of Scotland. He studied instrument making at Glasgow Clyde College and then continued his studies with the luthier Sheena Laurie. Christian's earlier career as a mechanical engineer in marine renewables allows him to combine his love for refined woodwork with his expertise as an engineer.
About the violin
This violin was made in Glasgow in 2021 and is based on an Amati model.
The violin has a two piece back of highly-figured maple with ribs and scroll of similar wood. The front is two pieces of medium-grained spruce and the varnish is a rich red in colour.
The violin has a length of back of 356mm.
How does it sound?
This is a very successful instrument. It combines a good amount of warmth and depth with a great deal of projection. The instrument works very well right across its range, with no weak or strident areas. A great, flexible violin!
Condition
The violin is in original mint condition.
