About Victor François Fétique

Fétique was born in Mirecourt in 1872 and completed his apprenticeship there before moving to Paris in 1901, working alongside Claude Thomassin amongst others. Having set up his own workshop in 1913, Fétique produced a great number of very fine bows and was awarded several prizes for his excellent craftsmanship.

About the bow

This particular bow is an extremely exciting example of the master´s work: it is stamped as an exhibition bow, made to demonstrate the quality of Fétique´s craft to the UK market at the 1924 London Exhibition.

The bow is mounted in silver and ebony and the octagonal stick is of excellent pernmabuco.

The bow weighs 80 grams.

How does it play?

This is a very fine, responsive playing bow which produces an extremely beautiful sound.

Condition

The bow in excellent condition with one repaired crack to the thumb projection.

Certification

The bow comes with the 2004 certificate of Jean-François Raffin.
