About Frederick T. Braund
Frederick Braund was born in 1890 and learnt violin making with the restorer and maker Frederick William Channon. He made around 70 instruments over the course of his career.
Braund lived to be 101 and made instruments up until his ninetieth year!
About the violin
This violin was made in Colchester in 1939 and is built on a personal model.
The violin has a two piece back of strongly flamed maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of straight grained spruce and the varnish is golden brown in colour.
The violin has a length of back of 352 mm.
How does it sound?
This is a bright, piercing violin that has real star quality! It's very responsive and comes to the fore in any ensemble.
Condition
The violin is in very good condition.
