About the violin

This violin is a copy of the beautiful 'Rotondo' by the early Neapolitan maker Alessandro Gagliano. Gagliano has a record auction price of over £200,000, making this violin an affordable alternative to the original!

The violin was made in 2015 and has a length of back of 354 mm.

It has a one piece back of lightly-flamed maple and a two piece front of straight-grained spruce which widens considerably towards the flanks. The varnish is reddish brown in colour laid, over a lighter golden ground. It has been antiqued in Matthew´s characteristically sensitive manner.

How does it sound?

This violin has a sweet, sophisticated sound with a slinky, seductive feel. It would be a particularly good fit for a player who regularly switches between Baroque and modern set up as it performs well with a set of gut strings and is equally happy at a higher tension. An excellent choice no matter what you´re planning to do with it!

Condition

The violin is in original mint condition.
