Cello by Nicola Zurlini, Cremona, 2013

About Nicola Zurlini

Nicola Zurlini is an Italian maker of violins, violas and cellos. He graduated from the International School of Violin Making in Cremona in 1983 and continues to work in that famous city today. He has made a name for himself as the creator of instruments with remarkable tone and projection, usually not antiqued in any way as is the case with this cello.

About the cello

This Strad model cello was made in Cremona in 2013. It represents a brilliant opportunity to acquire an instrument modelled after those by Stradivari, made by a local luthier who trained and works in the same city as so many of the great masters throughout the history of violin making.

The cello has a two piece back of book-matched maple, the flame sloping slightly from the centre joint. The front is two pieces of straight-grained spruce and the varnish is amber in colour. The length of back is 758mm.

How does it sound?

The cello has a lively, flexible sound which projects extremely well.

Condition

The cello is in perfect original condition and comes with a certificate from the maker authenticating the instrument.
