About Paul Bowers

Paul Bowers is an extremely well-respected violin maker now based in Oban, Argyll. A graduate of the prestigious Newark School of Violin Making, Paul went on to win awards in major violin making competitions and to establish a reputation as one of Britain´s foremost contemporary makers.

Paul´s instruments are much sought-after by musicians for their tonal characteristics and his very fine workmanship: we are delighted to one of his violins available for sale.

About the violin

This violin was made whilst Paul still worked in Edinburgh and is based on a personal model. The violin has a two piece back of medium-flamed maple with ribs to match. The scroll is of plainer wood. The front is two pieces of fine-grained spruce and the varnish is a glowing amber-red. The violin has a length of back of 352 mm.

How does it sound?

This violin has the brightness and projection that one might associate with its looks: a real powerhouse of an instrument that competes very well against newer instruments of the Modern Italian school.

Condition

The violin is in original mint condition.
