About Ekkard Seidl

Ekkard Seidl is a master luthier based in Markneukirchen, the German town with a long history of violin making. Siedl served his apprenticeship in Markneukirchen within the Voigt workshop, setting up his own workshop in the town in 1985.

About the violin

This violin was made in Markneukirchen in 2003 and is modelled after the decorated instruments of Andrea Amati.

The violin has a two piece back of delicately-flamed quarter-sawn maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of straight-grained spruce and the varnish is a rich reddish-brown.

The violin has a length of back of 348 mm and is fitted with geared pegs, making it an excellent option for someone seeking a very comfortable instrument.

How does it sound?

This violin has a bright, open character and speaks very easily. It was made to offer a great deal of power despite its small size and it does that very well, though not at the expense of tonal quality. All in all, a super little violin!

Condition

The violin is in very good original condition.
